Hi Everyone from New Zealand
As you may all have heard New Zealand has been very eventful so far. But I will start from the beginning!
It al started when we were at the airport and Lee was suffering from a "dodgy Tummy" (apparently). I was sat waiting to board the Plane and Lee disappears. At the time i thought very little of it. After about 15 mins he came back and we got on the plane.
Whilst on the plane, Lee's apparent stomach problem persisited as he kept on going to the back of the plane for lengthy periods. Still i never questioned what was happening. At last his stomach seemed to settle down and he joined me back in the seats.
After we got off of the plane we headed off to pick up our campervan, which is very nice. Cosy, but nice. We set up camp for the night and fell asleep.
The following morning I was woken by Lee making sausage sandwiches and him longing for a nice cuppa tea. He made me get out of bed, like a kid, i just presumed he was eager to explore.
He had it in his mind that he wanted us to go punting down the river Avon. So off we went. After a beautiful walk through the botanic gardens we came to the boat hire place and we saw Row Boats. Instantly we were taken by the thought of the Row boats and after a rocky start, we were away.
After 20 mins or so of feeding the birds and dodging the river banks, lee stopped rowing the boat! He had kept previously stopping. I just thought his arms were aching. I was very wrong! Lee got up, which worried me greatly as I thought the boat was going to tip! He then knelt down briefly...got back up and sat down. This was his practice run to make sure he was not going to show himself up by falling. Then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! I was so shocked that I had to ask him if he was joking. After assuring me that he wasn't I started blubing and we just hugged each other! It was a very special moment! which was heightened by the very picturesque scenery. The trees were golden browns and reds and the day was beautifully sunny with the bitter wind that autum has to offer. It was so beautiful!
He then pulled out the ring which is SO beautiful. It is a White gold diamond solitare ring which sparkles wonderfully in the light...impressively so....it even fits.
After we got out of the boat he then says...So is that a yes then. I was so overwhelmed that i forgot to accept. Bless. After we walked back through the gardens and he was explaining to me all the sagas of making his proposal necessary.
His dodgy tummy worries at the airport were all myth and he was actually phoning my dad to ask for his permission. To which my dad could only answer...of course you can you silly sod! He was really shocked bless him.
His dodgy tummy on the plane had turned out also to be a myth. He was in fact trying to convince the air cabin staff to announce it over the tannoy, to which they refused. BOO. Despite the stewardess's pleading his case to the head of the cabin crew.
So it was not to be. But thankfully the weather in Christchurch was beautiful and the Row boat could not have been beaten in my opinion.
He had been keen to ask me when he did as it fell on our 7 year anniversary. Very romantic.
So needless to say we both have fallen in love with Christchurch. It really is beautiful.
Love and miss you all, wish you were here at this special time.
Love Kirsty and Lee xxx
