Hello to all
I thought id give this blogging a go..... those who have not guessed its lee.
Since our last blog we have been very busy, Saturday we ventured into the forbidden city, it was very cold as you can probably gather from the pics. We were shown around the buildings by a local guide who was very good but was desperately trying to sell us alot more trips including making our own chinese dumplings...... to which me and kirst both declined. After the city we got in a cab and went to the silk market.... (Massive market which sold everything) This was the first time kirst didnt need to drag me shopping as we were both in need of coats as we severely under estimated the weather.... (its freezing!! -5oC today).
It turned out kirst is a much better haggler than me andgot her coat.... which is identical to mine (inc colour...) for half the price!!!
The sellers also tried to interest us in Rolex's and IPODs... all for about 6 pound... Which we did not take up, however kirst did purchase some very nice 100% silk table runners.. for a bargin price!!!
After a little power nap in the afternoon we went out for dinner without the group this time back to our little local.... being safe.... but it turns out pointing at the menu was not good enough and we ended up being brought out some funny raw veg and meat in a bowl..... however some random english speaking chinese person (few around) was able to help us out!
That night we met up with our group and thought we would partake in some traditional chinese activities...... Karaoke... The chinese love it .... so after searching the streets of beijing we found a very nice little bar..... which soon emptied, as i fear the chinese could not handle the competition singing against the english!!!
After a long night we decided to get some rest for our big adventure...
