Breakfast was the turkey and cheese cold cuts and bread left by our hosts, showers etc, and then off to explore Punta Arenas. Sunny day as we walked towards the waterfront. Church bells rolling for Palm Sunday and congregations parading around churches. We made our way into town just in time to see a parade - military, firefighters drum brigade, mounted caribineros, and students from local schools along with their teachers. Next, Museo de Regional Magellan - a mansion circa 1900s donated to the city in 1974 including some exhibits on indigenous peoples and the impact of Spanish exploration. Then lunch at La Luna - spaghetti de bolognaise for M and J and seafood soup and hake for Andrew and I. Yum! After lunch we explored the waterfront, thought we saw some penguins - sadly no - and then we looked for a chocolate maker Again, no joy - BUT we found a mini mart that had weird banana cake, ice cream, and coffee. We walked to the municipal cemetary which was pretty cool - a sort of cemetary high rise along with French-like above ground graves. It started raining so we headed the 3 km home. Hung out at home and relaxed. Andrew and I went to the store getting ready for tomorrow's trip to Puerto Natalas - a picnic lunch along the way. Then we went out for MORE FOOD! Found a great pizza restaurant and met some couples from New Zealand exploring Chile etc. Got a couple of pizzas, some pasta and salads and headed home. Packed up for tomorrow and finished up with Reza Aslan's Believer on CNN.
