Nobody is happy today - according to the Virgin Atlantic website, we have 13 hours left till our flight home. It's been a terrific experience and one we would do again in a heartbeat. Without exception, the people have been the friendliest nation we have every come across, and we've done a lot of travelling. I've been standing in a street, holding on to the boys while Donal has gone to get something, and women have come up to see can they help me. A man just stopped as he passed by us looking at our map, to see could he help. When we told him we weren't lost, just trying to decide what to do, he gave us a few recommendations of where to go/what to do, including drawing a route in our guide-book map for us.
There's no issues with personal space, which probably was the oddest part for us, but we're coming from a country with everybody having their own house, and garden, and living very much separately. And the noise - oh, the noise! The noise on the streets - it's a total cacophony of horns blowing and people shouting and it's wonderful.
We will be back (somehow!) - there's so much more of China to see, and we barely scratched the surface, trying to see a bit of everything. We really thought that this would be our only trip to China, ever, but having been here, we all want to come back again. The boys are sad to be going - Oisin is really upset and the only reason he's coming home is to see Cian! In the meantime, he has already drawn the design for the sign to hang outside the hostel (the one we are all opening here in China, up a hill behind Yangshuo, near to Li river to be specific!) and decided how many people each dorm will hold. And when I question him on it he tells me "you have to follow your dreams, Mum"!!
