Hi all,
We left salvador about a week ago and went to Rio so we could get the bus down to Paraty. We decided to treat ourselfves to one moere night in Rio so we could watch Brazil V Ivory coast on the big screens at Copacobana beach. One night then became two when we were (pretty easily) convinced to go to the favela party again on Sunday night!
We eventually made our way to Paraty on Monday and had an amazing time there. Its a beach town and the ´historic center´ is made up of cobbled streets you can barely walk on (fun after a few drinks). The weather wasn`t too great on our first couple of days there so we spent our first day kayaking in the rain! When the weather picked up we rented bikes to visit a couple of waterfalls. It was a pretty tough ride to the first one uphill through muddy bogs but was worth it when we got there! I wasnt feeling great that day so I bailed after the 1st one but Adz and Ush were propper troupers and cycled onto the natural slide which was an extra 7km up a very steep road (even more amazing as the bikes were rubbish and Adz couldn´t get hers into 1st gear!)
On our last day there we caught a bus to Trinidade which is another beach town half an hour away. It was even more beautiful there and we practically had the long sandy beaches to ourselves (with the exception of a few friendly dogs). We watched the pretty non eventful Brazil V Portugal match at a little bar on the beach where the locals had fired up a free bbq.
Friday night we caught the bus to Sao Paulo which was quicker than expected so we arrived at 4.30am instead of 6! Got the metro to our hostel with some people we met on our plane from heathrow, and then again in Paraty, to our new hostel which seems good so far. All went to downtown sao paulo today to look out over the city from a high rise you an go to the top of and at a museum and art gallery. Unfortunatly bad luck seems to follow us around so the only one of the three open was the art gallery.
Off to our first club in Sao Paulo tonight with some friends so will be interesting to see how it compares to Rio!
lots from BRAZILxxx
