Adam - car is awesome, on all fronts:
- Its just plain ace being able to up and go wherever you please, whenever you please.
- We were supposed to pay a $250 one way fee (because we're dropping it off on the other side of the country and all that). But if you don't ask, you don't get!
- That car there (YES - THAT ONE!) was described to us by the man at the desk as an 'economy class car, very small, smallest in our fleet, very uncomfortable if you're going to be doing a lot of driving'. Presuming we got a lucky upgrade but in any case, you have to love America. Just imagine if we'd paid for the upgrade!
(As another aside, they tried to offer us roadside assistance for just $4.99 a day extra, or else you have to pay a $49.00 one-off fee. Which means you need to break down once every 10 days to breakeven. Hmm.)
Ormond Beach is a nice little place. You can drive on the beach, which is weird (but then this is Daytona - the birthplace of speeeed). Only in certain places mind, in case you were concerned that sunbathers are as likely to get tyre tracks as a sun tan.
We've decided to stay over an extra day and then we break out to the opposite coast - Tallahassee in North West Florida. Onwards!

Daytona Beach is cool like adam said it was weird you can drive on it, its a popular spring break spot (whoo sprin break) and lots and lots of bikers so lots of bars and there was a celtic market when we was on that was playing irish and scottish music lots of nice food and kool gifts and some crap lol I think that was for st patrick day weekend. Lots of big wave and sadly some jelly fish so adam freaked out and wouldnt get back in the water apart from to paddle and then I finally convinced him to get back in the water up to his waist and the lifeguards start shouting and blowing whistles and everyones getting out the water as theres a shark so then we both would only paddle lol
