After Spending 3 days on a sand island I got to have a shower and a proper bed last night!! (plus an all you can eat mexican!) I am In Hervey Bay for another night before headding inland to Kroombit cattle station, which should be interesting!
Sat 5th April This morning I had to persuade the Koala shuttle bus driver to drop me off at the flight centre so I could book my flights to Alice Springs! That proved to be more difficult than I first thought, however I did it! ha! Not only did I manage to book the flights, but I booked my Sky dive date & my Uhluru safari with it! (with a few problems along the way, all sorted now though!!) I grabbed some food & headed back to the hostel for a saftey briefing! after that we were all playing cards in the dorm all night yess! THREE KINGS!!!
Sun 6th April FRAISER ISLAND DAY 1 Up early to pick up our bright pink 4x4 for the Fraiser trip! We stocked up at woolworths & headed over to catch the ferry. On the island, driving on the sand, the truck was sliding all over the place! ha bit of a bumpy ride too - a lot of fun! We went to lake Wabby, Which was awsome! A fresh water lake at the bottom of HUGE sand dunnes and a forest! we walked over some of the dunnes & had a swim in the lake with the catfish! After that we headded up the beach to Eli Creek - Which was mega peacefull to walk down & the water was crystal clear! After being in Tanzania, I vowed never to camp again, but, there I was on the worlds largest sand island, pitching a tent! A few Kilimanjiro flashbacks later we were BBQ'in on the beach. We had some sand burgers before the guitar made an appearence! ha!
Mon 7th/Tue 8th April FRAISER ISLAND DAY 2/3 After breakfast we packed up & headed for a HUGE shipwreck that had washed up on the coast, it was wicked! we drove to a campsite for some food & to tthe end of the beach & climbed The Indian Head cliffs! The veiws were AMAZING! the rest of the day we spent driving all the way down the beach to our camp site for some food, the beach is a motorway! Today the food is great, no sand burgers! We had a great night on dingo patrol with our wind up torches!! That was after 2 dingoes crashed our party & forced us to retreat into the pink trucks! ha!
I woke up in the middle of the night soaking! our tent had leaked & we were sleeping in puddles! half my sleeping bag was damp! My Tanzania Hoodie kept me ALIVE! The rain didn't stop until we were at Lake McKenzie the next da! We had to pack up the camp site in the rain & drive in it, which was fun! Lake McKenzie was HUGE, after 2-3 hours there we drove to the ferry landing to get back to Hervey Bay! When we did get back I had about an hour long shower & an all you can eat mexican! yess Most of the night was spent playing pool in the hostel! ha!
Love & Miss you all!
DINGO PATROL!!
