Today is my first day in Alice Springs! At stupid'O'Clock tomorrow morning I am heading off on a 3 day safari to Aires Rock, Kings Canyon etc... The Last 24 hours have quite literally had it's ups & down's, Skydiving being the Up! HA!
Day 41 Last day on Magnetic Island - After waiting AGES for my breakfast!!!...HaHa, We Decided to rent A MOKE! (Mike, Craig, Damo & Myself) Between the 4 of us it worked out to be about 7 pounds each! It was fast too, A little Suzuki to race around the Island in! YESS! I had LOADS OF FUN rocking around the Island in that thing, A particular highlight was being heckled by construction workers for driving too fast! HA! Later on we substituted Craig for my Suitcase as Damo dropped us of at the ferry terminal so we could get to the rugby game!
After A rushed check-in at the transit centre we got to the game only 10 mins late! The game was AWSOME & the atmosphere inside the Dairy Farmers Stadium is like nothing I have ever been to! There was loads going on all over the place, while the game was being played??!! Cowboys kicked arse though, they wiped the floor with Auckland, put 20-30 points on them & as expected, there were some BIG HITS!!! Another highlight was playing rugby with a load of drunk guys at the bus stop - full contact! yess!Ha!
Day 42 Up early this morning to find out the Coventry score!! 5-1 YESSS!! Oh, and meet up with the guys at the ferry terminal before catching the Oz bus! Damo proved that I am predictable by word for word guessing what my description of the game would be & We got to play some more rugby! (with coaches & cars this time!) My stop was Mission Beach for my Skydive & most of the other guys were heading for Cairns. Apart from skydive there is nothing to do in Mission! We played football in the park for ages & I did some laundry! If it wasn't for my (now sticker riddled) guitar I would have been really BORED! The football was a good laugh!!
Day 43 This morning it is raining! I am -1 adapter & probably won't get to skydive due to the rain! After waiting AGES for the Skydive bus they doubted whether I could dive today!... At about 1100 they cleared me for my dive & we headed off for the airport! The Dive was AWSOME!!! I was a little uneasy about hanging out of the plane at 14,000ft, but once I was out it was WICKED!! I was freefalling to Earth at about 120mph & loved it!! The parachute went up & slowed us down for some AMAZING views!! I got to control the parachute too - we were spinning all over the place! HA!
We landed on the beach, literally, right outside my hostel! Due to the time of the dive I got out of my harness & straight on to the bus!! Still buzzing, the journey up to Cairns (...and my last ever journey on the OzExBus) went really fast! We stopped off at a Crocodile farm & had a guided tour! The crocs were HUGE!!! & the guy was just playing with them - he lead the biggest one right out of its enclosure & he crawled right past all 10 us, no fence & about 2ft away!! One of the crocs nearly took my leg off, thankfully that one was behind a fence but it came out the water & right at me! I didn't feel all that safe, at all!! HA! We got to hold crocs & snakes as well as talk to parrots!!
Back on the road to Cairns. When we got there I checked in & went to the cashpoint to get some money out. The ATM rejected my card!!...so I called home to try & sort it out, but my phone ran out of credit!!...so there I was, in the middle of Cairns, Not even $1 of change, no phone! what do I do?? Thankfully I got a text from home telling me that I would be able to access money from my card within 30mins! phew! After all that going on I headed down to the Wool Shed & had an AWSOME night, I met up with Beardo & Shavo, Shane, Damo & Lydia plus all of the bus group!! It was the last time I would see Shane & Damo on my travels, so we had a fair few farewell drinks & a wicked night!!
I am off to see Aires Rock & Kings Canyon
Nearly Home! Love & Miss you all!
