Cairns is a wicked city. We stayed in a hostel called Gilligans which was more like a huge hotel than a hostel - filled with backpackers. Other than laying by the lagoon/pool during the day and drinking in the evening we didn't do much. Though I did get a chance to do my first bungee jump(s).
I can honestly say that jumping off a massive tower and getting my head dunked into a small pool of water is the scariest thing I've ever done. I stopped breathing as soon as I got to the edge and don't remember my brain telling my body to jump, but I did. I went up again and on the 2nd jump they let me climb on to the roof where I ran off the edge. Hero.
We're currently in Little India in Singapore - an amazing place which feels more like we're in Mumbai. Had the best curry I've ever eaten last night for $5. Which is about 2.30 in sterling. Singapore as a city is very friendly and incredibly clean.
Today we visited the Singapore Zoo, which is considered one of the best in the world - spent about 4 hours seeing Polar Bears, White Tigers,Zebras and Snakes. Me and Damo were walking through the Monkey section of the zoo and an Orangutan up in the trees attempted to urinate all over us (I'm sure it's a sign of affection). He missed us by an inch but it was probably the funniest part of the trip so far.
We take a coach to Kuala Lumpur tomorrow for a couple of days - then I'm not sure if we're spending more time in Malasia or heading straight up to Thailand.
All the best to all
