Mombasa has been an incredible adventure! It has been hard to write about because of all the emotions and feelings I have experienced in the few short days we've been here. It is not like anything I have experienced and has been hard to wrap by brain around it.
The city is set on the coast of Kenya facing the Indian ocean. It is a mixture of Swahili Kenyan culture and the Muslim culture with a very heavy Arabic influence. Walking through Old Town Mombasa was like stepping back in time several centuries. There are moques everywhere bellowing out their call to prayer and prayer capped men hurrying along the busy streets to make it on time. Women also traverse the crowded streets going to market clad in their black burquas. I just can't imagine wearing those in this steamy and intense city.
The beaches here are truly amazing. The seashells, coral, powder white sand and several shades of blue water are idyllic thought the beach hawkers can get a little tiring.
We are visiting the Moore's who started Real 4 Christ ministries. Their ministry reaches out to impoverished villages by bringing them schools, churches and medical clinics. Oh my heart! I am so happy and at peace out in the villages. Yesterday we walked around getting to know one of the villages. I LOVED every minute of it. I am amazed by their
