Hi Kids!
Well, here I am, finally at rehearsals and getting this thing started. And the best part, I'm starting in New York City!
If you have never been to New York, you have to get here ASAP!!!! I can't imagine a better place to be, so much to see, so much to do. As I've told some of you, I've always wanted to spend Christmastime in New York City and the fact that I'm doing theater as well is just a dream come true!
I've had my first couple of days of rehearsals and they've been intense and thoroughly enjoyable. We met everyone on the production team on Monday and even had a visit from the head of the company, giving us all a pep talk. Then, it was right down to business. We've got a week to put this together and then a few tech rehearsals before our preview performances in PA. But the comforting thing is, everyone is very experienced, very talented and very... get down to business. And nothing is more intense to me than what the youngsters have been going thru for 8 or 9 hours a day. They are all truly "triple threats." To see them go thru their production numbers is awesome to see, learning all the choreography so quickly....amazing!
Which is not to say that they're not about having fun. It's very apparent with everyone involved that they LOVE what they're doing, you can see it in everyone's faces, there's no place they'd rather be. Wow, what an amazing feeling...to be involved in something you absolutely love doing, and get paid for it!
And if this wasn't all exciting enough... this morning while sitting in the lobby of the studio, drinking our morning coffee, waiting for rehearsal to start, who walks into the studio.....Stephen Sondheim!!! It was like everyone in the room saw the "light " at the same time. Jaws dropped, eyes bugged out...well, you get the picture. Don't know exactly why he was there, many activities go on there, rehearsals, auditions, classes, whatever. So I don't know why he was there.
So, I'll have more info on the studio and get some photos up on the blog ASAP!
Be Back Soon!!!
