Hi Kids!
We keep rollin' along!
We had a nice weekend in New London, cast and crew were very happy to not have to pack up and leave after one night and go on to the next venue. The people at the Garde Theater were oh so nice and even catered a meal for us between the shows on Sunday...umm lasagna! Top notch! Can't say enough good things about those folks. Thank you guys!
The Garde Theater is another interestingly beautiful place, whereas the Capital Center in Concord NH had an Egyptian theme, the Garde Theater takes your out into the desert with a very elaborate Arabian theme, replete with many colorful murals and painting.
As I have mentioned, it's been a learning curve for some of us and adjustments are always going to have to be made for whatever theater we happen to be in, that's a given. And while we all want the audiences to get the whole enchilada, because of safety issues and what not, we've had to pare down a lot of props and scenery for the smaller venues such as New London. It's a pity, but a real necessity when it comes to the cast trying to get on and off stage and do their changes and run back on to dance or what have you. It's a safety issue really, I mean, you don't want to kill yourself trying to climb over something or someone to get onstage. We're also dealing with "locals"( people hired at each theater to help) and for them it's literally the first time they've done the show. So, not to bore you with the details, but it all comes down to communication and safety.
Saturday night we had a big storm come through the area and while it wasn't as bad as expected it certainly was a cause for concern. So much so that I told my two daughters, who were planning on seeing the show that night, to stay home where it was safe. But it wasn't enough to keep a group of about 25 friends of mine from the Falmouth Theatre Guild from braving the elements to come see me. I worried about them coming down in those conditions but was so happy when they were there. And they immediately made their presence known! lol! Love you guys!
We had a blast in New London, thanks guys!! Now we're going to spend a couple of days off in Pittsburgh and after that it's off to Ohio!
Be back soon
