Up early and checked out at 9.45am. I was in a bit of a hurry as I was aiming for the 10.15am bus to Boston. I had planned to walk the 4-5 blocks to the bus terminal but it was raining, and I had all my gear so I took a quick Uber ride.
Just made it to the bus with a few mins to spare. It was a nice ride, with free onboard wifi, and I arrived in Boston at 12.45pm.
In the food court at the massive bus terminal I noticed a pretzel shop called Auntie Anne's. As it so happens, I danced with a very nice man last night who was a director or something and he had given me a coupon for a free pretzel...so I used it!! It was pretty yummy!
The lady I'm staying with is about 20 mins out of Boston city, and not really knowing which train to get, I got another Uber. They're faster and easier than public transport, and pretty cheap.
So I met my host Karen when I arrived and she seems nice. It was around 3pm by then, so I decided rather than wasting the afternoon, to go to downtown. There is a bus from the house to the train, but it doesn't run on Sundays, so Karen kindly drove me to the train station.
I bought a 7 day pass which is good for all trains, busses & ferries so that will be handy for my 4 day stay. The train trip was only about 15 mins.
It wasn't a very nice afternoon, a bit drizzly - not enough to need an umbrella but enough to be a pain in the.....
So anyway, I wandered around downtown and found the park...there's so many squirrels running around and they're not too shy. One came right up to me and looked me square in the eye! I'm not sure if he was trying to decide if I was a tree or not...but I'm glad he didn't try to climb me!
Found the info centre, quite by accident, but that was handy to get a map and some info.
I didn't really have lunch, and still have sore feet, so decided to grab a sandwich and head back for an early night. I was on the train around 6 and home by 7.
Spent some time tonight sorting out my stuff, since I packed in a hurry this morning. I have to get all my dancing gear together to take to town with me tomorrow and get it posted off back to Oz.
It looks like rain again tomorrow, but fining up on Tuesday so that will be nice! C'mon Boston...turn on the sun!
