Another busy day, holidaying is so tiring!
I slept in a little, didn't get out on the town till 9.30am.
I took 2 buses to the Golden Gate Bridge. I stepped off the bus at 10am and said, "Where's the bridge?". It was sooo foggy! I decided to not dilly-dally here as there was nothing to see.
Caught the bus down to Golden Gate Park where I went to the Acadamy of Science (really only went coz I got free entry with my city pass & the brochure said there was penguins). It was ok, more for the kids and about conservation etc, and the penguins were all just standing around bored.
Walked around the park abit before catching the bus back up to see the supposed bridge. I stepped off the bus and WOWEE!! There it was! It was 1pm by then so it was lovely and clear. I walked across as far as the first tower. Was standing there when I heard a loud scream. I turned around hoping it wasn't a jumper, but it was only some guy proposing to his gf.
Turning back, I decided it was time to move on. I caught the bus over to the Exploratorium (science-like things, I guess kinda like our Questacon). Spent a few hours there and even took a chance and went into the touch dome. It's pitch black in there & you feel your way through tunnels & ramps & slides and try to feel all the objects hidden in there and all the different textures & materials on the walls & floor. I was scared at first coz they said you shouldn't go if you get claustrophobic, but I ended up doing the course 4 times! Luved it! The last time I asked if I could go through with the lights on to see what I missed...there was soooo much stuff in there! It was amazing to see! My knees were sore though from all the crawling on some rough surfaces.
Headed back home, raced around to get ready to go square dancing. Can't come all the way to USA & not check it out! This club was a gay & lesbian club but they had said I could go along. The people were lovely & welcoming and I had a fantastic time. For the first time in my 17 years of dancing, I danced in a square with 7 men! It was AWESOME! Well, there was men dancing the women's part, or as they call it leaders (men's part) and followers (women's part). I learnt some new tricks to show my dancing mates back home :-)
Caught the train home & stopped at Starbucks for a snack & coffee. I'm still on a high...don't want to sleep but it's 11.30pm.
Great day!
Later,
Tracey
