What a busy day! Covered so much ground, and boy don't my feet know it!
Up early to catch the streetcar down to the wharf for my Alcatraz 9.30am tour. German girl from the dorm joined me, but I lost her, haha. She had her own things to do anyway, so no great drama. The audio tour was really good, and you can go into some of the cells to see what it was like.
From there, I saw Coit Tower was not far away on the map. Couldn't remember what it was, but just remember my housemate Brad mentioning it. Mind you, you have to climb Filbert Steps, the 486 steps up to it (I counted on the way back!), and that's before you even get to the entrance. I was abit over it by then so didn't bother paying to go up.
Next stop Fishermans Wharf, The Aquarium. The entrance was included in the city pass I bought. I wasn't going to go, who hasn't seen fish before, right?? I'm soooo glad I did, because that brings me to my subject line... Guess what was really slimey? You'll never guess - it was in the touch pool...
From there, I wandered all the way along the shops of Fishermans Wharf, blocks and blocks and blocks...
How neat are the cable cars?? I jumped on one to take me up hill (if you saw this hill, you wouldn't want to walk up it either, haha) to Lombard St, the bendiest street in the world. It's kinda cool, and decorated really nicely with plants. I'm not sure what the speed limit is, but the cars looked like they were going about 10km (down only) and several had passengers recording the trip down!
Jumped back on the cable car for a few more uphill blocks to the cable car museum. Cool to see the cogs turning, but very smelly in there (pe-eeeeew!) and only stopped a few mins.
It was past 5.30pm by then, so I decided to just head home, but stopped for dinner at a cafe first (chicken panini, not bad!) .
Only a few blocks from home by then, but guess what? Yup, uphill *groan*. I was an exhausted, slightly sunburnt, weary traveller by the time I got home, but content that I covered so much in 1 day.
I'm ready to crash, it's only 8.30pm!
Later,
Tracey
P.S. Thought I forgot, didn't you? The slimey thing...it wasn't the starfish...it was the baby stingray!! Well, he was about the size of a dinner plate. I touched a baby shark too, he was rough like sandpaper, but the stingray I just kept going back for more...so slimey!! He also had a cool party trick where the lady wiggles her fingers just above the water, and in the end it gets the better of him and he has to pop up for a look, his whole head out of the water!! I think he was camera shy though coz he wouldn't do it for me :-( or I guess my fingers don't look that tasty...

Brad LOL, it's more about the view from up on the hill then the tower itself. You can see everything from up there. The lookout not the tower. Oh the stairs LOL your just a complainer.
Tracey Yes, I am complaining about the stairs! It was worse than a bootcamp session!
Brad lol, Square dancing tomorrow night.
