I flew to Montreal on the 1st August and met Mum and Grandad at the airport. I was so excited about seeing them! My flight got in half an hour before theirs, so I was there to greet them. They looked really well and Grandad had done brilliantly considering the long journey that they had been on. There's not many 85 year olds that would go to Canada! Clare collected us from the airport with Chloe and took us to Lennoxville. Lennoxville is a township about 2 hours outside of Montreal, where Dorothy (Grandad's sister) lives. We stayed there on 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Aug and it was really nice to spend time with Dorothy, Clare, Emilie and Chloe.
I had my own hotel room, which was a bit of a novelty for me because I was used to sleeping in dorms. I actually quite like sleeping in dorms now and I feel a bit odd not having people around me at night! However, it was nice to have a break from them for that week and get chance to up pack my stuff properly.
We had really nice meals out and enjoyed driving around looking at the local area. I met Dorothy's very sweet, but huge cat! We went to Abbey Sainte Benoit and Magag gorge. There was a fantastic shop in the Abbey that sold wonderful things like, chocolate covered blueberries, all kinds of maple syrup and homemade cider. We bought quite a bit of stuff!
We hired a boat one day and went out on Lake Massawippi. It was a beautiful lake and we really had a lovely morning. We had a laugh at each other driving the boat and Grandad nearly drove us in to a sand bank! I think he was doing it on purpose to wind us up!
