I Stayed over on the night of the 7th in Los Angeles and I loved it. I wan't sure if I would, but I did. The plane journey into LA was fantastic, it was one of the best approaches in an airport that I've been on. The city lights went on for miles and the sunset was beautiful.
The weather was brilliant in LA. Apparently it was really hot but it didn't feel like it because it was dry heat. It felt way cooler than Canada anyway. The beaches are beautiful and they are really quiet. The shopping would have been wonderful, but I can't shop because I can't carry anymore stuff! I actually found this quite painful! I have already made a vow to myself that i will go back to LA next year on holiday and do loads of shopping with a suitcase and some money.
I went on an arranged tour the next day and it was well worth it because it gave me chance to see everything in a sort space of time. We went to -
- Venice Beach - great stalls and beautiful quiet beach
- Santa Monica beach - saw the lifeguard stations used in Baywatch! beautiful beach
- Beverly Hills
- Rodeo drive (where all the rich shop) - saw the boutique that refuses to serve Julia Roberts in pretty woman. You can only enter the shops that have closed doors by appoinment only!
- Farmers market - this was great for poking around in. I could have spent ages there.
- Melrose
- Hollywood walk of fame
It took quite a while to move from place to place in LA because the traffic is so bad. Our guide told us that there is about 10million people living in LA and there are 8million cars! We watched pretty woman in between stops so it wasn't too bad. The driver was very kind and he dropped me straight to the airport for my flight at 9.30pm to Auckland (it's all go!).
