Somehow we ended up in Dunkirk a day too early for our ferry and found ourselves a little but stuck for something to do on our last day. I had been banging on for the last week about going to a book market in Lille (initially the idea was rejected on the grounds that it was too far); Dave finally caved and we went to Lille.
Turns out the book market is closed on Mondays which was hugely disappointing for me, whilst Dave thought it was hillarious and probably was quite relieved. Luckily Lille turned out to be the perfect last day. There are
Plenty of beautiful buildings to see and affordable food. There was the by now cumpulsory Christmas Market which wasn't bad and had a big wheel, which in my initial excitement at it only being €4 I insisted we try (momentarily forgetting my fear if heights!). Wonderful views of the city especially due to the Christmas lights. This followed by an Indian meal made for a perfect end to our trip or at least the abroad section of our trip as we are determined not to let it end just yet!
