We arrived in Prague a little city'd out after making quite a rapid journey back across central Europe. Unfortunately persistant problems with the van meant we didn't get to see as much of Hungary as we'd have liked and ended up hopping from city to city to avoid driving too much on bumpy country roads (sounds a little like a gremlin is banging away with a spanner inside the engine!). It was great to get to Prague though and especially to catch up with an old friend 'Jana' who I'd met at a work camp in India 5 years ago. Jana was also fantastically helpful in helping us sort the van problems out and arranged an appointment with a Mazda mechanic for us and then came with us to translate! This seemed initially to have solved all our problems and despite spending a good 45 minutes checking the van and then I believe tightening the exhaust, the mechanic didn't charge us anything for his time!
Unfortunately the knocking noise has since returned but we have decided to stop worrying about it having been told that the van is safe to drive and nothing is falling off!
Anyway, back to Prague..... feeling a little citied out we spent most of the time wandering around and taking in the stunning architecture without going in to any of the sites. Definitely from a visual point of view the most beautiful city we have visited so far but we decided to come back and do Prague and Czech Republic properly on another occassion when we are in a better frame of mind to appreciate it.
In desperate need of mountains, countryside and the sea!
