Checked out of our very lovely hotel today and checked our baggage in at the Qanats desk at the train station in HK. We then headed out onto Lantau Island, twice the size of HK. We spent a very nerve wracking 45 mins in a coach going up & down mountains to get to Po Lin Monastery & the world's largest outdoor Buddha. 35 Degrees 98% Humidity This morning we went on a tour of HK island. We went to Aberdeen, Stanley Market, drove past Repulse Bay then went up Victoria Peak. Had an excellent tour guide who made it very interesting. Spent the evening looking round Ladies Market then went back to Temple St Market. 28 Degrees 98% Humidity Went to 10,000 Buddhas monastery, on the side of a hill in Sha Tin. Up the steps, which there were loads of, there were golden buddhas on each side of the path, all in different poses. At the top was the main temple, top to bottom on each wall were thousands of mini buddhas, with a big one in the middle and the gold leaved corpse of some bloke I cant remember. Arrived safe & sound after a very long & boring journey. Were really lucky as we were able to check in at 10am, and we got upgraded to a room over looking Hong Kong Harbour with Kowloon in the distance. Spent this afternooon wandering round Kowloon, lots of random food stalls with live crayfish jumping about trying to escape the displays.
