Hi everyone! Did The trek today, quite amazing. There was me jess and cristelle, and then these two other aussie girls. We then picked upi these three japanese guys. A dad and his two rather overweight sons. I was a bit concerned that they might not be aware that the trek included a two hour walk... Firstly we drove fro about an hour to this elephant camp. I was a bit worried as you do hear stories of the elephants being quite badly treated, but there was an american couple who were staying therre, learning to ride the elephants, and they said they were really cared for.
Somehow i ended up on the elephant with tusks, whos 'driver' didnt seem at all keen to tell it what to do, so we spent most of the time in bamboo plants. The views were amazing though and ive got some really good hotographs which i will put up. later we went trecking to this waterfall which was really nice. But with jess having a phobia of snakes and me not being to keen on spiders, we were a bit aprehensive when it came to 'funny looking' holes and really big spider webs... Oh, and btw, the Japanese kids, (who turned out to actually be Korean) were decidedly fitter than me which i found a bit perturbing.
The trek included white water rafting as well, which was to put it mildly, very tame indeed. Not much white water thats for sure. It was still a giggle though, and i did look fabulous in the bright orange helmet with a chin strap. There was also bambo rafting later as well, which is basically floating half submurged in the river on large bits of bamboo tied together. All in all it was really good fun, and only cost 1100 baht (just over 16 pounds!)
