Hello Everyone! Thankyou for the wall posts, i dint actually know they were there till just now. Did nothing on the monday i left bangkok. I decided that i should post some things onto geoff in sydney seeing as my rucksack was unbearable. Surprisingly the post in thailand isnt as cheap as everything else, and it cost me 1500 baht to send a small(ish) box. I'd rather pay that than have my back done in though, and my ruckscak is a little better now. We got the train form the local station at half 7 after a two hour wait, (we were a little over keen) but unfortunately due to a lack of pre-planning, missed out on a sleeper train, so had to endure 12 hours overnight on a reclining chair which looked quite unsavoury. It was really cold too, so i was digging around at half two in the morning looking for a jumper in my rucksack, getting glares in the dark from the disgruntled japanese couple infront.
Getting off the train at Chiang Mai is worse than getting off the plane at bangkok. About a million thai people telling you about their amazing hostel. Luckily we were aware that the hostels that have to tout for business are usually the worst, we got a taxi to the main part of town, Tha Phae gate and walked to a guesthouse called Julie's. Its the top rated in lonely planet and is really nice. Its quite tucked away but nice and peaceful. It reminded me of Oli, as its really hippyish and i do feel like i should be lying around smoking a joint. (Unfortunately the drug laws in Thailand are very strict...) Saw a couple of temples on tuesday (once you've seen one you've seen them all) and went to the night market in the evening. Its really massive and we didnt see it all. I did manage to buy myself some genuine raybans though for about a pound, hmm... We booked a tour for the next day, wednesday, through julie which was 1100 baht, about 17 pounds. Will update on that when i next have time.
