Well i have landed! And i am still all in one piece. I have had a few problems here and there already but nothing too major. After 26 hours of solid traveling and aeroplane food even a McDonalds looked tempting... BUT I DIDN'T!
I started off leaving little old Ludlow, UK at 13.45 changing at Newport SW, London Paddington and catching the direct train to Heathrow airport - which by the way completely blew my mind it is huge!!- i boarded my first flight at 20.20 and flew just after 21.00. The flight was about six hours, then a quick hour stop in Abu Dhabi and a further 8 hours to Bangkok, Thailand.
Unfortunately when i went to exit 6 as directed by STA Travel my transport to the hostel was no where to be seen! After waiting for about 20mins then talking to about a thousand people for a furhter 20mins i found a very nice Thai STA lady who arranged and paid for a private Taxi for me. STA had booked transport at the time my flight left Abu Dhabi and not when in arrived in Bangkok... silly STA. But nevertheless i eventually made it to my hostel.
The address is: Lub D Bangkok, Silom, 4 Decho Road, Suriyawong, Bangrak, Bangkok, 10500
website is: www.lubd.com if anyone wants to have a nose. it's by far the nicest hostel i have ever stayed in. complete with Geckos and everything!
My Taxi man was brilliant, we had no idea where we were going and had to stop and ask tons of thai and english people before we eventually got there. i was in the taxi for about an hour! the air con was so good i had to put my jacket on!
I have already met a couple of girls in my 'girl only dorm' but they are moving out a day earlier than me so we have said we need to swap details encase we are at the same place at the same time. A english girl called Anna sounded keen to meet up with me in my last 10 days as we are going different routes but both ending up at the full moon party on the 17th of July in Koh phangan.
So day 1 is down, 43 to go!!
