Sa wat dee ka, We are in Chiang mai now, in the north of thailand. We enjoyed our last day in the old capital, we checked out at 11, then decided to hire a motorbike! lol it was a honda wave 150cc, so hen tamed the beast and i sat on the back. We used it to get out the main city and go and see some less touristy temples. We have learned that if you are the driver you arms get burned and if you are the passenger, you legs get burned! It was very funny when we went to hire it because it was a manual and we said we had driven one before and when it came to drive it away, we were pretty humiliated lol, the man looked very shocked when we made it back in one peace. We also went to see and old elephant krall, and we ended up in some back route i think we weren't supposed to be in and ended up finding a field of elephants, so we wondered in and filmed them. Later that evening we made friends with some Americans from California and shared a tuk tuk with them to the station. We then got the sleeper train, which was very random lol Didn't get to much sleep though as all the lights are left on. We arrived in Chiang mai yesterday and we are staying in the Chiang Mai white house, which is a really nice place, with a cute dog and puppy which is always escaping. We had a look around and went to the tat office to get some information on the area. In the evening we went to falafel which was tasty then book some tickets to the big fight! A muay thai boxing match for the evening. The match had 10 fights a mixture of girls boys and kids and a special fight, followed by a lady boy caberet show (which we didn't stay for!). The kid were about 8-9 years old but so precise and disciplined, was quite and experience to watch. The special show was a load of people in the rind blind folded all against all, the someone from the crown got pushed it and got a bit beaten lol. Today we hired a motorbike again for the day. We book our a thai cooking lesson for tomorrow, which looks like good fun, and got an old lady to do our washing for 40baht. This evening we are going to go to the night zoo and hopefully see some giant pandas! (I will try and take pictures for you grandma), and also on the way hope see this temple on a mountain, which has a really good view. It is a lot less busy in Chiang Mai and beautiful scenery lots of banana trees :-) The day after tomorrow we are going for a 3 day trek, including elephant ride, bamboo rafting and staying with the long neck tribe. I hope everyone is well, and it sounds like you have had some crazy storms lately. Glad you had a nice holiday rose, you would love the markets here! Will try and blog before we go trekking if you it may be about 5 days. Lots of love Abbey and Henry x x x x
