Sa wat dee ka fom Thailand! Abbey here. Well we have just had our first day in Bangkok. The flight wasn't to bad, quite exhausting. Managed to get a taxi straight away to our hotel, villa cha cha, the guy was really nice and we paid a fair price. The hotel is really nice, the pool looks very tempting. We got a welcome drink which was really tasty. Bangkok is amazing! so so hot, busy, so many food stalls, tuk tuks everything. There are so many smells aswell. We took a look around this evening to get the flavour of Bangkok, it was bery exciting, very had to to buy things as they are so cheap. In trhe end we decided to have our first Thai meal, which was delicious, although Hen's was very hot. It is really hard eating hot things when it is so hot out. Aaron when we were eating our dinner the music "shorty got low low low low.."was playing through the street, it appears it is popular here to. Get wondered around after dinner i brough some street mango :-) very tasty. I don't have any signal as of yet, however Hen does. We are going to explore and learn how to haggle tomorrow, and maybe take a tuk tuk to the grand palace. We have had a little rain so far, but it doesn't spoil it at all, its actually quite refreshing. Will post a blog soon, as this hotel internet is free! x x Abbey and Henry
Day 2 in Bangkok, og hear we overslept!! Hen set the alarm for 8:30 so we could make the most of the day, the next thing we know....we wake up at 2 in the afternoon! missing breakfast, lunch and morning madness in Bangkok. So we got up went for a walk, it was so so hot really hot part of the day, the streets are totally different during the day to at night, so many clothes stalls, loft of crafts, bags, linen etc, evry colourful. Hen has got the knack of haggling now, and he got us both some sandels and some bags. We got our first tuk tuk ride, which i recorded some of, we got pretty ripped off witht the price, but we have learned now. So we got to see another side of Bangkok. Later we got home had a swim in our villa cha cha pool which was really nice. THen we decided to go to chinatown for a bit, it is very very busy. We had dinner there and walked around for a bit just looking at everything , I don't know how people are slim here because i am tempted by all the food all the time! We got a taxi back, for the right price this time! and went for a couple pf beers in a nearby bar. Rang mum, and texted dad and emma. It started to rain a bit, so we though we would wait until it stopped BIG MISTAKE! It went on for ages and ages and then the roads flooded. In the end we deecided to make a run for it underestimating hhow deep the wwater was, we couldn't run! All the thai people were laughing at us wading through the roads drenched, loads of rubbish floating everyt\where and some suspicious things touched my feet in the water. Somehow we made it back to the hotel, hen got a picture of me drenched, it was such an experience. Then we went downstairs for a 2nd dinner lol, hen had some pad thai and i had a vegetariam stir fry, was very tasty. We are still trying to work out whether to stay longer or to move somewhere else in Bangkok or to go noth. We are going to go and see the grand palace tomorrow and the reclining buddah, get lunch from a stall, maybe look round a night market. There is a cute siamese cat that seems to stay in villa cha cha. Fusses for stanley. I just asked Hen if he wanted me to write anything and he looked blank then looks away lol. Oh well. Will try to blog tomorrow, last night of free internet. Abbey and Henry x x x x
Hi all, sorry about all the spelling mistakes, i was on a fuzzy computer had to use a bit of guess work. Hen and I have moved to another part of Bangkok now. Went to see the golden mount yesterday and had our last night at villa cha cha (which was really nice grandma!) THen we got the metro and then the sky train to Sukhumvit, a poser part of Bangkok, we checked out a huge shopping mall as we are a bit short on clothes, and somwhow ended up at a cheerleading contest, was so random we recorded it. We are in a new backpacking hostel called suk 11, a pretty cool place, random, old style thai very quirky, nice atmosphere. This evening we decided to get some stall food, as the best food we have had so far was from a stall. We had chicken noodle soup and then i had some melon from a stall. We then went for some beers at at bar called Charlies, beer for 50 baht (less than a pound!). Managed to do some laundry also, (thanks grandma for the advice, it went ok didn't shrink anything). Aaron you just need to fuss stan, he need it. Got you message auntie anna! All is well, hotel was very very nice, hope you are all having a sunny weekend. Jules 3 fume hoods is enough!! Hi to mums and dads! Will blog soon x x x x
