Hi everyone, hope you all had ana amzing Christmas we missed you all so much. Thank so much for all of your lovely messages we really appreciate them.
We are now 10 days into our trip and we are loving every minute of it, sorry peeps if my spelling is bad, I am writing very fast as I have little time on the computer. After the Caribbean (Puerto Viejo) we went to the rain forrest in Rara Avis, we were pickd up by a boat and taken to another little Island where we drove for a while before getting onto a tractor. Before we got onto the tractor we were given boots to wear and we were only able to take one small back pack each for the two days. The tractor trip was amazing but very bumpy we went up hills, rocks and trailed through tones of mud, it was a very muddy ride. the rain forrest was so beautiful the different plants and animals that live there are amazing. the tractor ride took 4 hours then we arrived at a lodge in the middle of no where. the cabins had no electricity and and were very basic wooden cabins with bunk beds, we had our own cabin and shared a bathroom. The walk to the cabin from the dinning area which had electricity was magical, we would walk through the rain forrest with all of it´s sounds and smells and over a bridge with a beautiful fish filled stream underneath, it was like a dream but with mud. the meals we had were lovely and the animals we saw were amazing, we saw colourful frogs, huge bullet ants, tucans (Jennys favourite), lizards, buterflies, huge hairy spiders, beautiful tropical birds and one of the most poisonous snakes in the world called the fer-da-lance (french for spearhead) it was just sitting on the side of the path we were walking along on our rainforrest hike. crazy scary. lol. we also saw some recoon type animals which had long snouts. we stayed in the rain forrest for two night and we have never ben so close to nature. by day we saw humming birds and by night we saw humming bats.one day we went swimming in the wter falls it was very cold but amazing to see and do.
we left the rain forrest (Rara Avis) on Christmas day and traveled by tractor and van to our next destination La Fortuna (The Fortunate). La fatuna has one of the most active volcanoes in Cotsa Rica, this volcano was situated right out side our hotel window, an amazing sight. That night we all went for a volcano hike at night and saw the volcano errupt slightly and it´s lava rolling down it´s side, it was an amzing sight we are so lucky to have seen it. we then had pizza and liquid lava, an alchoholic frit drink made with Costa Rican rum it was lovely. after we ate we went to the most amzing hot springs, there were 12 pools of lovely hot water st different temperatures, the hottest was 67 degrees very hot. there were water falls there, jacuzzis and tropical gardens and cool slides, it was so beautiful, there was a section where you could layon sun lounges in the hot spring pool and look at the sky, there wre also pool bars where you sat on stools in the water and had a drink. it was amazing and well priced too. we had a great Christmas Day.
We are now at our next destination Monteverde and we have just been on the most amazing horse ride up the mountain, my hourse was called Tito not sure what Aarons was called his was like black beauty. the view was amazing. we are now in rustic cabins which are lovely. tomorrow we are tree walking and the next day we are going on a coffee tour. we will let you know how it all goes. love you all and tak care. not long left on our travels. xxxxxxx
