A and J World Trip
Hi there everyone!
Hope you're all well and hard at it!
We've just has a fabulous few weeks in Laos. With 96% unarable land it makes for incredibly beautiful mountainous scenery everywhere you look, which we fell in love with. There are so few people and with a chilled outlook to life, all in all, it was an easy place to enjoy.
City life wasn't exactly hustle and bustle and we liked exploring Vientiane and Luang Prabang at a gentle pace - lots of stunning temples and riverfronts. But it was the 'off road' adventures that we loved the most...
A three day trek and kayak trip in the hills surrounding Luang Prabang took us to some fabulous villages set in spectacular scenery...just a brilliant experience. The walking was tough but it was sooo worth the effort. Kayaking was also amusing - took us a while to get our act in sync!! - and we managed to conquer some pretty fierce rapids at the end, so we were pleased with ourselves!
And then we headed downriver to a little visited village called Hongsa, where Asian elephants abound, used for logging and everyday life. Sounded perfect for a wildlife adventure. The reality was way off the image conjured up from the guidebook.... We only actually saw one elephant who took us trekking (fab) and the sleepy village provided some of the most random, but hilarious experiences of WT so far! All in all though, a very memorable trip.
We're now making our way to Singapore (change of route to avoid Bali) to see Andy's Mum and David....a few days in the city and a week in a luxury island resort. Cannot wait!!!
Lots of love
A + J xx
