Hello Everyone, We are now in China and it has definitely been a culture shock! It is very different to Japan... more crazy busy and full on. We have spent the last few days exploring Beijing which has been amazing - everything is on a grand scale. Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City have been real highlights, but we have also enjoyed walking in the parks and exploring the 'Hutongs' - little Beijing back streets. Yesterday we went to the Great Wall and did a 10km walk along the wall from Jinshanling to Simatai. It was scorching hot - 36 degrees - and the conditions were rough under foot. The walk took us onto old sections that climbed up and down steep hill sides. Although it was hard - it was so worth it. The scenery was spectacular and seeing the wall continue off into the distance was awe-inspiring. It was a real achievement and we were on a high at the end. Hope you are all doing well.
