Lucy and I are in Rovinj, Croatia and it is beautiful! We are here with my first cousin Cynthia, who many of you have heard me talk about, and her family. Cynthia's husband Chris is a sailor on the RC-44 sailing boats. This weekend is the world championships for this class of boats, and it is being held here in Rovinj. Let me just tell all the single ladies out there that this is where you want to be. There are boats from Russia, Denmark, Sweden, USA, Great Britain, etc., and they are all full of handsome sailors! Today there were four races which took about 6 hours. We were out all day on the water on spectator boats and chase boats. The spectator boat hold over 100 people and has food and drink and 2 decks. The chase boat is a smaller rubber dingy that holds 5-6 people and zips around the race getting great views. If you go on the chase boat it's choppy, windy, and you get wet, but it is really exciting! Chris and his team are Team Aqua and right now they are in first place. Tomorrow is the last day for racing so it is sure to be an exciting finish. It has been really interesting to watch the boats and see how they decide which line they are going to take based upon wind. Two boats collided today because one was trying to slide in front of another. Also, another boat passed so closely to another that their bow came across and hit a spectator on the other boat and knocked her in to the sea. Her husband was driving the boat and kept going so he wouldn't lose the race! She was picked up by a race official and is fine, but I'm sure they will have words tonight! I am posting some sailing pictures and will put more pictures of Rovinj on soon. Tonight is a big party in the hotel for all the sailors and their families. Should be fun!
