We're off early today for our trip to Scotland. We went to Mc Donald's for breakfast, yum yum (not).
We thought the drive would be about 4-5 hours, but based on our trip from London we are now looking at least 7 hours driving, bring it on. If we knew it was going to take a whole day, we may have changed our plans.
The drive is not too bad, it's just long. We stopped at Burger King for lunch eventually, and the kids all said "nooooo". My little experiment has worked, between flying and driving trips, our kids have had more fast food in the last couple of weeks than they would normally eat in six months, so no more Mc Donald's......
When we arrived, we are so excited to see where we are staying, it's an old Abbey converted to apartments. Our apartment is is on the fourth floor, and guess what.......no lift, stairs all the way baby. I guess we better not leave anything in the room when we are going out.
After poor old Noel lugged all the heavy bags to the top we were rewarded by the best views in the place, straight out onto Loch Ness, what a beautiful view. We bought groceries before we left Hartlepool so we cooked our own dinner, and then went for a walk around the grounds, booked a table at the restaurant for tomorrow night.
The Scotland Highland Club has a games room, indoor pool, soccer field, playground, tennis court, and it's a couple of minutes walk to the village of Fort Augustus, great location for a couple of days of relaxation.
