I have reached the final days of my travels - delivered back to Auckland in a long travel day yesterday. James got me to Lauren's apartment and I got in through security by having people hold doors for me with my big suitcase. Her friend Tia was there, so we had a catch up for about 15 min waiting for our daughter. Lauren came home in time to straighten her hair and we were off to an industry party at Fat Camel, the bar that I know her group frequent on a regular basis. I had the wonderful opportunity to meet many of her co-workers who love her to death. My friend Kate from London came downstairs - she was staying in that hostel and joined me. We stayed socialable for about an hour and a half and then we found a little Tapas Bar where we got some food and wine, had a great conversation, and then said a sad goodbye - the last of my travelling buddies, a very strong young woman who has just left the police force to go to teacher's college in the fall.
I am trying to figure out exactly what I am going to see here over the next three days, so I had better go find Lauren and see when she is off. The museum here is supposed to be the best introduction to Maori culture in New Zealand and this is yet another rainy day, so it may be a good destination. The Sky Tower was light up with colours last night and it looked just like this picture.
Now I will see all of you very soon.
Love, Patti
