Got changed into our White Rose Akidio tshirts and at 7 o'clock met Gavin Campbell, the Derry/Sion Mills Aikido instructor in the hotel reception, walked around to the chinese restaurant where a meal had been arranged for us with his family and a few Aikido students. Beautiful chinese meal but not brilliant for Jackie 15 minutes before being thrown about on the mat, me and Toni were ok because we were spectators, also Jackie was very nervous and wanted to be sick.
The class started at a gentle steady pace until Jackie showed them how we train at The White Rose, mouths wide open and eyes agog the students looked a little alarmed by what they had seen. Surfice to say, Jackie stepped up to the mark, after 90 minutes of intense training the Sensei and students showed their appreciation by presenting her with a gift and card.
Now down to the serious stuff - the bar and drinking !!!!!
They sheltered us from the rough pubs as they thought we were litlle princesses, oh how wrong they were. Arriving in the pub at 10.15 we knew what the first drink needed to be - guiness (it would've been rude to drink anything else) once you get the taste, it is hard to stop and we didn't until 2.15am. oops a daisy was only supposed to be a quick drink after training. We did need to do the guiness moustaches.
We staggered back to our hotel, as quietly as we could, (if thats possible after drinking copious amounts of the black stuff - we only drank that much cos we were informed that it was a good source of iron).
2.25am comatosed.
