Well there you go! Just when I was starting to heap praise on the place it all starts to go to the toilet.
Our southward progress has been hampered by an explosion in the population. After crossing that invisible line that separates Scotland from England the B/sq mtr (Brits per square metre) ratio has gone through the roof.
The villages that in Scotland were villages have now morphed into towns with increasingly greater levels of heavy industry.
We are still trapped in the vicious daily cycle of "find a bed". A task that is becoming increasingly difficult, as we move further south into England during this holiday period. We were forced to drift further West into Wales to find accommodation at one stage.
Wales as it turned out was a pleasant change by way of natural attractions. The Snowdonia Region National Park proved to hold the best scenery we have stumbled across since arriving in the UK. We managed to squeeze in a walk through a small patch of forest. No mean feat in a country that has barely a stick left standing. All re-growth of course, as all the original oak forests were cut down centuries ago.
Another thing that we have had to come to terms with here are the ****** narrow roads. I have had them described to me as uniquely British by a local. But **** is **** however you try to dress it up.
The arrival of the camper has been put back a day according to the internet tracker. So it could still be another week at best before we gain our independence again. We are both really sick of travelling this way. For example, the place we ended up in tonight was not a choice we would normally make, but we were running out of options. It was to bloody dear, to noisy, no breakfast included, no free Wi-Fi, need I go on. We pray for no hold ups by Customs over here.
When we leave Europe we need to think very carefully about what port we will ship from to Africa. We will have another period of three or four weeks without the camper, so where we spend that time will be influenced by where we can find an exit port from Europe. We would rather not be in a position where we have to rely on B&B's or Hotels again. With South Africa coming out of summer we may buy some camping gear to take advantage of the season and fly down there to wait for the camper.
