Suzhou is very pretty! We took a boat down the Grand canal (apprently the largest in the world) and down the smaller canals around the old town. Kinda reminded us of Venice! We hd the chance to get off the boat and have a little wander round the old town streets here people were selling live chickens, ducks, toads, eels, crickets and pigeons all tied together and stuffed into tiny boxes where they could barely move！The boat took us to Tiger Hill, the most scenic spot in the town complete with temple and China's only brick Pagoda.
The hotel here is beautiful! It's a proper old, clasical chinese building with little courtyards. Our room is lovely....the only bad thing is that we seem to be the only people staying in it We booked into a 6 bed dorm but it' only the 3 of us here.
Moving onto Hangzhou by bus tomorrow and meeting up with lara and Lowri agin who are there already there so will update you all soon......
