Conquering the City
Okay, so it´s been a little while since I´ve written anything of importance. It´s a little tricky to try to keep my brain in Spanish while keeping up with letters, e-mails, a blog, a planner, and a diary all in English. But you know I love a challenge!
Speaking of challenges, yesterday was the day of all days for them. In Liana language: absolutely exhilirating! I took the metro to school (if I can find time I will try to write about my first day of school. What an absolutely hilarious string of disasters!) and learned that the horario (schedule) is more or less just a wall decoration. At least in my case, there´s no point at looking at it. I get there early, the train is late. I get there late and dash onto a car I wasn´t expecting. En route, we stop in a black tunnel for minutes at a time. Let´s just say by the time I got to school in the morning, I was wary of the reliability of this particular mode of transportation.
So I asked one of our directors for a map. The one she gave me was pretty decent. There were areas, I´m assuming plazas, where for one reason or another, they just didn´t have street names. I hesitated for a moment, then thought about the frustration of the metro again. Two minutes later I was heading out the door with a post it containing the only four street names I could say for sure were on my way home. I figured as long as I walked in the general direction, I´d find my way.
And I did!
Argh! Somehow I just erased the most interesting part of the story that I had fully typed out and I have to meet someone at that unreliable metro in about five minutes so unfortunately I´m going to leave you momentarily with a very drawn out cliffhanger(and a grotesque run on sentence to boot!) The rest of this story WILL COME I promise.
By the way guys, thanks so much for your comments and e-mails. I can´t reply to all of them just yet, but it really means a lot. Oh, and I just found out that if you rate my site I could show up on the home page or something like that, so if you like it, hit those five stars! If not, well you have better things to do than rate a silly little blog, don´t you? :-)
Hasta luego!
