The kids went straight to the pools, and we met them after putting in a load of laundry. With the temperatures heating up the kids have no problem getting me in the pool and ocean.
We hung our laundry, had lunch and started driving towards the town Púbol. This is where Salvador Dali remodeled a small medeival castle for his wife Gala. Gala was a mysterious woman that Dali was obsessed with. Later in their marriage she wanted her own home, and to be elusive, she made Dali write letters to her for permission to visit.
The castle was simple with views of the countryside and decorated eccentrically. On the second floor there is a glass table with ostrich legs for feet. Looking through the glass of the table you can peer down into the first floor, where a full size stuffed white horse stands. We also visited Gala's crypt in the bottom floor of the castle, She died in 1982, 87 years old.
Dali also made a beautiful garden for Gala. Tall manicured shrubs make walls for the paths. In places the path opens up to display art by Dali - the famous elephants with long spindly like legs. Strange but interesting. The elephants remind me of something I've seen in Star wars. At the back of the garden is a beautiful shallow pool.
A Cadillac and a Datsun sit in the driveway. American cars that Gala and Dali use to drive; they would have drawn a lot of attention because of being so big in these small streets.
We drove back to our campground deciding that we wanted to visit Dali's Art Gallery the next day in Figueres.
