Sunday in Milan - another lazy start to the day saw me heading out the door at around 9.30. I turned the corner to find the next street (usually very quiet) full of stalls which seemed to be mostly of stamps, coins, books and a few with old items such as china and homewares. I headed up the road to where the hop-on/hop-off bus leaves and caught the 10.30 taking a different route to those I did yesterday. This one takes over an hour to complete so I just remained on the bus enjoying the ride and trying to take photos - really difficult from the bus. I decided to get off at the park before the final stop so I could walk through - it's a very popular place on weekends and was full of people running, walking their dogs or having picnics. There is also a large metal tower that I had learned had a great view of Milan so I went there and paid the 5 euro to go up in the lift. The views were amazing - just a shame there was a window in the way that made photos hard to take, but still it was worth it to see everything from that angle. Then I went back into town for a late lunch and enjoyed a nice pumpkin gnocchi. Did some window shopping - haven't really seen anything I've liked enough to buy and don't have room to bring back shoes (the boots are really nice...). It's certainly an interesting place and when I stop for a meal I prefer to sit outside where I can watch the people. Today there was a guy half-dressed as Mozart (or something) with a white wig, bad white makeup on his face, a brocade jacket and then random pants that didn't go with the rest of his attire - he was just walking up and down asking people for money. Usually people beg by kneeling against a wall with a cup out but this guy was being a nuisance and he'd get cranky when people brushed him off. Lots of buskers - some really good and some terrible. I decided to return to my hotel around 5 and brought some snacks to have for dinner - an early night tonight as I have a full day tour tomorrow.
