Nice to have breakfast included at the hotel and a great choice too. So I had a bit of a late start to the day and then set off to familiarise myself with Milan. I bought a 2 day ticket for the hop on/hop off bus and went for a tour sitting on the top in the open air. It was a good way to learn where certain things are and to just watch what's happening. I went for a good walk through Sforza Castle which is only about 10mins walk from my hotel and also the Duomo which is quite impressive - it's about 5 mins from my hotel. I had lunch in a nice place inside a flash shopping mall and just watched the passing parade. There are so many hawkers here - well there are a lot everywhere I've been so far in Europe but the ones here are more annoying - you have to try to ignore them and if they won't give up then say a really firm no - I've watched so many people get caught with the old 'tie a pretty string bracelet on you' and then get asked for money. Or walking into a shopping centre to see half a dozen guys all selling identical scarves. I guess they're just trying to make a living but I wish they'd just take the first 'no thank you' and leave it at that. Anyway tomorrow I will do one of the other bus loops and see another part of Milan :-)
