It is a bit of an irony that we've found it more difficult to keep this blog and the photo albums up to date whilst travelling in Europe than we did in Africa.
It is not just that there are less internet cafes and unprotected Wi-Fi points here in Europe; it is also that they charge about five times the price to be on line! Strangely the bandwidth speeds are also no better than Africa, and often worse.
All of the above is a fairly pathetic excuse for not keeping up to date, so apologies to our Dutch and German friends for the lack of photos (they are breathing a collective sigh of relief I suspect).
We are currently enjoying the mountain splendour of central Switzerland but the next couple of updates will concentrate on our Germany exploits. This means you will read about our Swiss trip when we are back in Spain at Christmas time!
In the meantime congratulations to Team GB for the best Olympic medal performance since 1908, an era when most non British competitors probably thought it was diplomatic to lose anyway.
I predicted in my last blog that Elton John would be wheeled out for the Olympic opening ceremony but it turned out to be that other geriatric, Paul McCartney. Personally I would have preferred Mick Jagger but it was a bit past his bed time! No idea who most of the other musicians were, but then I'm just a grumpy old git!
Updated with this short blog are our photos of Holland including the fascinating sculpture park at De Hoge Veluwe national park near Arnhem. If you are not Dutch the name of this park is best pronounced whilst suffering from a heavy cold or pneumonia.
The tiger sculptures are not real tiger skins by the way and it is not a comment on the fate of the tiger, it is about "world insecurity since 9/11" but I suspect you would know that anyway.
With a bit of luck a German blog and photos will follow shortly!

Lyn So glad you're back to blogging! Sounds like you're still having fun. What are your plans for September - you never know, we may just surprise you with a quick visit? Enjoy.....
Ralph Hi Lyn You are very welcome. We will be heading back to Germany for September as Switzerland is very very expensive. Email if you are planning to come our way
Lee Glad to hear from you again. Also pleased to read that you didn't know any of the other performers at the Olympics, either. Are we just old geezers or what??? No return plans for Africa just yet, as Bob's hard at work on THE BOOK. The due date for all photos and paintings is 10/1 for everything to be at Struik. Hope someday you will show up in SA again while we are there!
