Hi All
We are in Tsumeb getting the trailer and car checked over before heading off to the Caprivi Strip (a finger of land in the north east corner of Nambia that is sandwiched between Zambia to the north and Botswana to the south).
After a week or two in Caprivi we will head over the border to Botswana before our Namibian visas expire (5 May). We are looking forward to Botswana, it is noted for the fact that there are no fences in the national park campsites so you literally live amongst the wildlife.
It will also be nice to leave the gravel roads of Namibia behind, they rattle you and the vehicle apart over time. Autotec in Tsumeb are getting the car and trailer ready for the next trip as I write this, various parts have come up from Windhoek overnight.
We will now be exchanging gravel roads for plenty of sand and mud (Botswana is coming out of the rainy season at present) which will make a change.?We may have to leave the trailer behind in places if the sand gets deep as sand and trailers don't mix!
We have overdosed on Wimpy breakfasts whilst here in Tsumeb and have stared goggle eyed at the TV screen in our B&B room, it feels weird to be out of a tent! Angela can hardly wait for the Man U v Inter Milan Euro champions league semi final tonight and I'm getting excited as well. It is supposed to be on the TV here but we have learnt never to take anything for granted until it happens!
It has proved impossible to get Botswana currency?in Tsumeb so we are not quite sure how we pay our entry fees at the border, no doubt there will be street money changers operating! We are also unsure of the rules on meat?& dairy products so will probably not attempt to take meat in, a shame as there is not much to buy the other side of the border unless you drive down to Maun (a bit of a trek!)
