Quick blog from Katima Mulilo, "capital" of the Caprivi Strip, Namibia.
In a busy week (by our standards!) we've travelled down the Caprivi strip, stopping at Ngepi Camp on the Kavango River for 3 blissful days. Great place to camp, hippos upstream and across the river, hippo prints in front of our tent (I don't think they were Angela's footprints?)
We celebrated Angela's 20 something birthday here, with Karen's wedding cake doing the honours. Lovely cake despite being subjected to 46C and a real bashing in the trailer over the last 6 months, thanks Karen!
Ngepi is noted for the views from the toilets and baths, weird sitting in a tin bath watching wildlife. Last time we had views this good was 8 years ago in the Okavango Delta (further downstream in Botswana), but we paid US$1000 a night to enjoy it, here we paid 10 pounds a night.
We've tested the swimming capabilities of the car and trailer getting to and from Ngepi and around the local national park (Mahango, one of the loveliest we've visited!)
Decided to go to Vic Falls via Zimbabwe rather than Zambia. Travel agents here in Katima reckon that the Zambian border to Livingstone is more hassle than going in to Zimbabwe, if you don't hear from us again you'll know they were wrong!
