Since Upington we've been hosted by Isaac and Liesel on their beef farm 'near' Vryburg (about 120kms away!), agreed our Botswana trip details and have headed in to Botswana.
We stopped at the Khama Rhino sanctuary on the way to Maun and tracked a black rhino until we nearly bumped in to him, Fortunately it was early and cold so neither party felt like getting upset!
Last night we were serenaded by lions and jackals as an elephant took down the tree near our rooftop tent at a place called Leroo La Tau. No fences and huge lion paw prints around the whole campsite meant we built one of the biggest fires we've ever had last night.
This morning our neighbours advised that they'd been woken at 5am by a large male lion chewing on their tent ropes!
We are in Maun getting last minute supplies (gin) and getting fuel for a trip in to the delta at North Gate Savuti, Savute and then up to Chobe. It will be 10 days of remote and rough terrain (deep sand) so we are taking everything in with us!
Can't upload the latest photos from Isaac & Liesel's farm and the Kuruman Moffat Mission as it would take longer than our forthcoming trip!
Off we go.....
