(Please note that any excursion adverts on this blog are placed by the web site owners and not us)
The trap was put out with the Prolite 25W Black Light bulb on the 20th of Dec and again with the Sylvania Mini-Linx Blacklight 20W on the 21st of Dec. They stayed on all night.
Night temps were varied on both nights the 20th was 10 oC and the 21st was 15 oC.
A good collection from these two nights with several new moths for the trip. In all now I have collected 52 different moths.
I have decided to use the Latin names for the moths from now on as the local names are vary obscure, and also sometimes very genetic.
We are beginning to get the Cicadas coming out now so let's hope the trap is not inundated with them, there was one huge one last night!
We have seen our forth different butterfly this week - the Common Blue (Zizina Otis labradus) I have included a picture of it as well. This is self-introduced from Austalia
I am very happy if any ID's are corrected as these are all new to me.
