The routine this morning was more relaxed because reservations were already made and we planned on eating out tonight. We headed out to catch the same 11AM shuttle so we could get to town and visit Antelope Canyon, but before let me digress.
On Friday after our tour to Rainbow Bridge National Monument I spend the afternoon taking care of the laundry - there is no way around those mundane tasks when you are on the road for over 3 weeks, but at least I could do laundry with a view and it was raining at that time so it was not like I was missing something.
Yesterday since our tour was cancelled we headed to Safeway to refill our water and produce supplies. We arrived at the campground and everyone proceeded to relax. I took the longest nap I have taken in a long time, so much that it was dark when I woke up and realized it was way pass dinner time. Thankfully we had most of the meal prepared and all that was left was to grill the chicken and veggies.
Our ride on the shuttle to town from Wahweap Marina and Campground located in the Glen Canyon Recreational Area took us across the Glen Dam. We were able to see it from the shuttle but we did not stop to visit it. The shuttle also drove past the Campground in Page were we had our original reservations. I am so glad I decided to cancel it and book the one we were at. It is so much nicer and worth the extra cost and the shuttle turned out to be very convenient.
We arrived in town with plans for lunch there, our shuttle driver recommended a Mexican restaurant. The food was good, not great, but the churros were on point. After lunch we headed to the office to check in for the tour - we did not have to walk far, it was right across the street from the shuttle stop.
The tour of the Canyon begins at the office in town where they load you into the back of a pickup truck and drive you to the location. The Canyon is a few miles outside of town. We passed by what I called Church St in Page, there are at least 10 churches of different denominations and non demoninational on it one right after the other almost.
The Canyon is so beautiful you just have to look at the pictures already uploaded. Pictures from the Canyon are used everywhere including by Microsoft screen savers. The light comes through illuminating the canyon walls, it is truly an amazing sight. After the tour we headed back to the campground and after dinner we started preparing for the move tomorrow. As much as we liked this place, I am already itching to move on, the road is calling me.
Tomorrow we will be traveling to Zion National Park.
