They boys were keen to visit Camp Nou so we caught the metro subway. It is located just on the outskirts of the CBD, so really central.
The boys have caught on quite quickly especially Sam, on how the subways work. Barcelona is the third one and Sam is one step ahead finding his way around so quickly.
Camp Nou is more than I expected. It had a fantastic sports museum paying tribute to all of Barcelona's football players and to its other sports heroes ( basketball, handball and hockey).
The stadium holds 90,000 and has plans for further additions to increase capacity to 120,000 by 2030. It had a great audio visual display and tour of rooms, press gallery etc.
We spent about 3 hrs there and then headed to the Port. Barcelona has a huge port and beaches beside the port. We took a cable car from the port up to Montjuic Castle (1640 medieval military fortress). It stands on Montjuic Hill which overlooks Barcelona. The city has very few high rise buildings. Great views!
We wandered back towards our apartment and had dinner at a restaurant outside. Still getting use to Spanish greetings, please and thank you. Mason said Merci at end of our meal instead of gracias ( waiter smiled and said Merci Au Revoir!). Getting confused on what city we are in!
Big day -lots of walking and we are all tired but got to see a lot of the city. Got a real sense of Barcelona.
Tomorrow we want to head out of the city to a mountainside monastery at Montserrat.
