Where has the time gone since I last wrote on the blog? So much has happened in this time.
We spent 10 days back in Caringbah at our house and all is well there. The place is not as tidy as I would like but we can accept that. The tenants are taking reasonable care of the place, they are paying their rent on time and don't object to us going back occasionally so what more can we expect? Chris had fun doing some gardening to get it in order again!
While we were at Caringbah we found out that Graham had got a new job, this time in Gunnedah which is north west NSW, about 6 hours from Sydney and 4 1/2 from Orange. We arranged to drive to Gunnedah to meet them and look after Josh and Ellie so Emma and Graham could look at properties to rent, ready for the start of the new school year at the end of January. Then it was back to Orange ready for Christmas.
Graham's dad and his wife were also visiting for the Christmas break and as we all get on well together, a good time was anticipated by all.
We did have a good Christmas, but not the one we planned. Emma and Graham sadly lost the baby they were expecting so it was a quiet, thoughtful time. Thankfully Josh and Ellie were the best distraction.
As Emma and Graham planned their move for mid January, we stayed on with them to help with their move. It was great spending so much time with the kids, they are such characters and we loved every moment with them.
The house Emma and Graham found in Gunnedah is an old but good family home and I'm sure they will be happy there, especially now they have had the air con fixed. Moving in on a 40+ degree day with faulty air con was not a good start.
We spent another 10 days at Gunnedah, staying at the caravan park and looking after the kids while Emma and Graham unpacked their stuff. They sorted and found homes for everything while we had the best time with the kids, in and out of the pool all day.
after saying our goodbyes leaving Gunnedah, we then restarted our travels and headed for Tamworth, only about 80kms away and caught the last weekend of the country music festival, not that we are country music fans, but it was good to experience and we meet some good people. We celebrated Australia Day in Tamworth and enjoyed a street party at the caravan park with the other travellers.
We are now at Armidale at a free camp by Dumaresq Dam. It's a lovely area and a good walk. Next time we walk around the dam I will take a container to collect the blackberries that are growing along the track, (very English!) We will stay here for a few days, using this spot as a base, checking out the town and the waterfalls around the area.
