Zolli on tour
New Zealand, the land of the big, long white cloud has EVERYTHING you can think of! It`s a great place to be where you never get bored because you got so many things to do and see, bevore you get bored you get tired of doing so much and then you just can choose one of so many nice beaches, have a swim or relax...
You get really nice, fresh and healthy food and the people are "easy going", very wellcoming and friendly.
You will find mountains, snow and ice as much as you can find ferntree forrest or rainforest, steep cliffs or wide vulcanic landscape.
I had a great first month, staying with the family Pryor-Svanberg in Bombay near Aukland! Helping them in the garden, taking an eye on to the kids and having some great plays or paynting the playhouse or the fence.
Just some of the things I loved; the place, the games we did at night( Bananagram and "Lauras cardgame")and watching the sunset while having a tea in the garden... It`was so quiet there and the sky during the night; Just amazing!!!
After it all I started travelling with Fabian, in an "old" Toyota Hyace with already more than 300000 Km. (at the end we added over 8400 to it!) We travvelled all around both Islands, we went tho the most southern point and we also reached the most northern one!
Some parts of our trip:
- We did see Kiwi birds in wildlife nera Ongarito while having a walk through the bush at night, it was one of my highlights about NZ!
- Hiked some beautyful tracks( Tangariro crossing, Routeburn track, Avalanche peack track, Mt. Olivier(mueller hut), some coastal walks and some other short hikes or walks to some nice places)
- digging our own hot pool at Hot water beach was adventureous and we got some pretty hot water to feel (I burned my feets!)
- carving our own jade (for a necklece) was quite interesting and a big effort to get it proper done!(we made it for each other as a present, so they had to look very good!;-)
- spotting bluewhales and spermwhales while beeing in a boattrip was lovely too! So lucky we have seen both on one trip...
We didn`t count all the sheep we have seen, but there where many! Even in some places around NZ they are pritty rare then you are going to see cows
I loved the different sceneries all over the Islands, it sometimes changed very quickly. But the distances were long and so we were driving quite long everyday that started to ´suck after a while! Everybody is telling you NZ is small but when you are there its all different! Just small distances can be long to drive because of cravel or bad conditions or windy passes or narow streets. But anyway we made our best and enjoyed it a lot.
The last couple of days we went diveing in the bay of Islands. It`s not just a lovely place just to be, it`s very famous for sailing too.
We went down into the water and enjoyed some great dives at the "Poor knights"( but the one hour boattrip was not that funny; was showing my whole "inner life"...) or on the wrecks of the Canterbury or the Rainbow warrior( Greanpeace ship, bombed and sunked near Aukland harbour a few years ago by french activists and now in the Bay of plenty for divers...) There we made our best experience about diving so far (our favorite one of NZ!) We got visited by six dolphins, very curious and ind the mood to play. So they were swimmimg next and with us! Unbelievable stunning!!!
We both loved travelling New Zealand even we think the Kiwis are doing a great tourism business; all is spectacular, amazing and awesome and a "must see",on some places you will paya lot of money because of something "very great and once in a lifetime experience" but after you`ve seen or done it you think "Ok, thats all?" May be it`s because we already traveled a lot and have seen so much, but in our opinion somethimes it`s a little bit to much, also in case of the security things.(fe: warning signs about falling rocks, in the middle of nowhere without any cliffs or mountains)
Beeing back at my hostfamily s place to say "goodbye", prepairing the "last"(for the moment...) selfcooked dinner toghether and having a good time was very important for me and I just loved it beeing back and to see most of them all again!
New Zealand is in fact one of the countries I`ve been I`d like to put very high up on my "have seen travellist"! Just because the country is absolutely stunning and I felt thad good....!
Gonna come back!
