„Tasmania the natural state" How true it is…!
I`m very glad i went to this gorgeous island !
After my arrival on January 1th and a long sleep in I spent my first couple of days in Hobart. The TASTE , a foodfestival about local Tasmanian products was on so I went there and checked all the tasty stuff out. The yachts from the « Sydney to Hobart Yacht race » just arrived bevore New Year and have still in been the Harbour. It was nice seeing them closer.
The walk up to Mt.Wellington was a thing i really enjoyed, also because we had caught a great day with best weather conditions for hiking. The view over Hobart and also far to Brunny Island was just great! I was in good company with a Dutch and a Chinese girl at this time.
My daytrip to „the most southern point of Australia" was a cool thing too. I`ve been inside the „Hasting caves", spottet a „white tip snake" on my walk through the bush or was „fighting" agains the very strong wind along the shore. The cider testing in the Apple museum in „Huon valley" was something special.
Then my 6 day „Tassie Explore Tour" startet; What an amazing trip with awesome people! We had such a great time from the very beginning! I think most of all became „close" friends and really enjoyed sharing the time together (except the horrible wet and freezing weather on the first day was a bit dissapointing…)
We have visitet rough waterfalls, walked along beatiful beaches while collecting shells, were sandboarding on huge white sanddunes or did a hiking at Cradle Mountain.
We had cristal blue water at the bays we spent time and awesome overviews on the lookouts.
We have seen Wombats, Echhidnas and Wallabies in nature and could get closer to the Tasmaniana Devil and the Koala and were feeding Kangaroos in a sanctuary.
The croup was totally mixed up and we had a great time while enjoying all this great places we have visited. Having dinner in a restaurant or some drinks in a Pup or even cooking by ourselfes were things we did next to all the activities we had on the toutr. We were like a huge family.( I allready look forward to the wedding in Texas or „sunny" England… ;-) )
We started every day with our morning song „The eye of the tiger" while singing and dancing in the bus to it.
Our Tourguide „Duckie" was just amazing, unfurtunately he coulden`t finish the tour with us because of his wedding planings.( Duckie, i wish you all the best for your next chaper of your life! )
We were in the Bus for more then 1500Km, we visited nice little towns or villages they seemed to be empty and we „survived" the misty sides of the waterfalls on the starting day…
I really enjoed all the walkings through the beatiful landscapes and sceneries, the „football gaming" on „bay of fires" and all the chattings with this great people, the very delicios and local food(the salmon and seafood is awesome and also the fresh fruits!)
Tasmania seems to be a pretty easy place to explore. There are camping facilities nearly everywhere and the places are easy to reach. The landscape changes sometimes quickly and it`s always a surprise what you are going to see around the next bush or the next corner.
I really can recommend the „Bicheno Backpackers", you will feel like living in your one house close to the beach and you will get the feeling to live like a surfer…
Port Arthur had some very bad happenings in the past…
To see this old convict collony where they were making wooden products to sell abroud was very intressting. I was trying to emagine how the live was going on there in the past. The thing that you could try how it would have been feeling in a punishment cell was creepy and the museum with some old stuff was very informative and has given my a small idea how Port Arthur was looking like in the past.
If you like New Zealand you would like Tasmania too! The Aussies say that Tasmania is a small version of theyr neighbour country.
To spent holidays there you would probably be fine with spending around 2 to 3 weeks there. Tasmania is a good place for activ people. There are plenty of things to do; hiking, trekking, fishing (also big game fishing),diving, sailing, rockclimbing, canyoning, rafting and much more. Here are a lot of small towns they seem tob e empty and you sometimes get the feeling you would visit a ghost town.(Queenstown…)And like I sayed, the food is very delicious here.
Time is running so fast…
I gonna be in New Zealand soon. New adventures…! Look forward!
C ya guys.
