Ok finally another update as to what I've been doing!
In Chiang Mai we went on our trek in the jungle, oh my god thought I was going to die. For two reasons: 1 a wild elephant was on the path up the mountain and decide that he didn't like us there so charged at us, all of us falling into the river we had just cossed, and 2 because the walk or should I say climb on the first day was crazy, very fast pace and the mountain was very steep, almost thought I wasn't going to make it! The rest of the days were alot better, day 2 was spent mostly going down hill and it was a lot slower pace, we even had time to swim at a waterfall. Day 3 was the best, the day started with elephants arriving at our hut to take us up a hill, I got to ride on the elephants neck instead of sitting on the seat as two people were already on it! The elephants took us to the white water rafting place to go down the river then on the calm bits on a bamboo raft, very quiet!
After Chiang Mia we headed to Sukhothai on the bus where we saw a few more temples and then had a chill by the pool to start our tans off. The bus then brought us back to Bangkok but only for a night as we then headed to the River Kwai for a 3 day tour. Those last three days have been the best so far. On arrival at the River Kwai we got to see the railway bridge that got bombed in World War 2 then we went on to the tiger temple, not to see another temple but the tigers that live there with the monks. We got to be really up close to them and have pictures taken, a baby tiger decided that he liked the look of me and tried to eat my t-shirt! Our accomodation for the 2nights was a floating river house, amzing to wake up at in the morning in complete silence. Day 2 and we went to Erawan Falls that has 7 waterfalls, this time the walk wasn't so bad, and got to swim in a few, 1 had a rock slide which was really good fun! In the afternoon we went walking through a cave system that had bats in it, Linds didn't like the bats. Back to the river house and a bit of a mess around in the river jumping in and having a swim. Day 3 was again the best, we woke up early so we could go swimming with the elephants and give them a bath, standing on their backs and them taking you under water with them, a really amazing experience!! We then floated down the river on a bamboo raft that stopped just by a river restaurant for lunch. Just up from the restaurant was a bamboo bridge crossing the river so myself, Linds and 2 lads from the trip decide that we were going to jump off it, complete madness, Linds was still shouting that she couldn't do it as she was falling into the river! After lunch it was another elephant ride where I lost both of my flip flops and Linds lost one! An amzing few days!!!
Back in Bangkok now, thankfully nowhere near the trouble at the PM's offices, until we fly on Wednesday to Australia, can't wait to explore down under!
Hope everyone is ok back at home and I'll contiue to keep you all updated!
