Well we are now coming to the end of our east coast adventure as on Friday we fly to the 'Red Centre' to tour Uluru and Kings Canyon, but first an update of the last 2 weeks!!!
Airlie Beach was our next stop up the coast after Fraser Island, from here we went sailing to the Whitsunday Islands. We were on a catamaran called 'Wings' that had very nice food, some of the best I've eaten as a backpacker yet. The main focus of the boat was to go scuba diving so I jumped at the chance, ended up doing 4 in total. On the first day it actually rained so it was better to be under the water, we saw a sting ray amongst other things but don't worry I stayed well clear! The second day was more dives and a trip to Whithaven Beach but again the weather wasn't wonderful still had a great time. Day 3 started with an early morning dive before breakfast then back to port.
We left Airlie Beach for Cairns on a night bus, the last Greyhound we'll take in Australia! Its quite a slow moving city Cairns with most peoples time spent at the lagoon topping up the tan, very hot and don't worry Mum I wore suncream!! Last Thursday we hired a car to drive further up the coast to Port Douglas (nice little town) then on to Cape Tribulation. I can't really tell you much about Cape Trib apart from the very bendy roads as I was ill (temp and swollen tonsils), even ended up at the doctors. I'm all better now got given some tablets!
Since being back in Cairns it hasn't really stopped raining apart from today when we went to Mission Beach to do our skydive. Oh my god, falling out of that plane was the scariest thing I have ever done but so amazing at the same time. We jumped from 14,000 feet over the sea and landed on the beach, I don't think I stopped screaming!
Tomorrow I'm off to the Great Barrier Reef were I'm going to do another scuba dive and some snorklilng on the outer reef, hopefully see some amazing creatures again maybe even a turtle! Then its off to the Red Centre for the next chapter of our Aussie adventure!
Love you all!xxx
